All,

I just read

http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel.stable/9103

It talks about the new "longterm" 2.6.34 kernel release.

Does anyone know if longterm in this case just means its a post
initial release update?

Or does it mean 2.6.34 now has some special longterm designation?

Greg

"new"? It's been going on for almost a year now.

It means someone has decided to try to keep the .34 kernel alive for a
longer time than "normal". Please ask Paul for details as to how long
he will be doing this if you are curious.

hope this helps,

Greg,

I just did some googling and it looks like 2.6.34 got the "longterm"
designation with the .8 release in Jan.

So I'm only 3 months behind the times :)

Ah, ok, it took a long time to get released, I was talking about this
with Paul from at least September of last year, so my remembering dates
is quite skewed.

thanks,
