From mboxrd@z Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 From: Avi Kivity Subject: [PATCH 03/58] KVM: Assume that writes smaller than 4 bytes are to non-pagetable pages Date: Sun, 17 Jun 2007 12:43:44 +0300 Message-ID: <1182073479448-git-send-email-avi@qumranet.com> References: <1182073479890-git-send-email-avi@qumranet.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Cc: linux-kernel-u79uwXL29TY76Z2rM5mHXA@public.gmane.org To: kvm-devel-5NWGOfrQmneRv+LV9MX5uipxlwaOVQ5f@public.gmane.org Return-path: In-Reply-To: <1182073479890-git-send-email-avi-atKUWr5tajBWk0Htik3J/w@public.gmane.org> List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , Sender: kvm-devel-bounces-5NWGOfrQmneRv+LV9MX5uipxlwaOVQ5f@public.gmane.org Errors-To: kvm-devel-bounces-5NWGOfrQmneRv+LV9MX5uipxlwaOVQ5f@public.gmane.org List-Id: kvm.vger.kernel.org This allows us to remove write protection earlier than otherwise. Should some mad OS choose to use byte writes to update pagetables, it will suffer a performance hit, but still work correctly.
