It's weird we don't see any ioctl in the middle, are you sure kvm
modules are loaded?
Please provide host&guest os + qemu cmdline.
Except that output of "sudo strace -c -tt -p `pgrep qemu` & sleep 10 ;
sudo pkill strace " will help.
Another thing to do is run with -clock=[unix|rtc]
