I downloaded the tar.gz
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/kvm/kvm-88.tar.gz?use_mirror=dfn
unzipped it and followed the procedure according to the how to:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/kvm
make
make install
modprobe kvm-intel
