Should images created with older version in general work with newer versions?
Anyhow, my XP vm just sits at a black screen with or without the modules
loaded (I using those built installed from the package, not the old ones
installed with my Feisty installation).
Reverting to kvm-16, again with or without the -16 modules, and it works fine.
I created the vm with
qemu-system-x86_64 -hda vdisk.qcow -cdrom xp.iso -boot d -m 384
and run it (as root) with
qemu-system-x86_64 . -hda xp.qcow -boot c -m 512
Any clues as to what goes on?
TIA
Andrew Walrond

What's your VM HAL (http://kvm.qumranet.com/kvmwiki/Windows_ACPI_Workaround step 5)? What stage in the boot does the black screen appear? MPS Uniprocessor PC And after following those instructions, it now works fine under version 19, and at lightning speed :) Thanks for the pointer; sorry for the obviously FAQ and keep up the great work! Ah - Ok. The options were Standard PC, MPS Uniprocessor PC and MPS Multiprocessor PC. Means nothing to me I'm afraid :) Andrew Walrond ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
