Microsoft.Windows.Vista.Ultimate.X86.OEM guest successfully
installed but after that kvm crash immediately after startup on
vista boot loader and dump registers into linux console:

This is true for kvm-48,46 and something similar for kvm-44.
This was testing with 3 different vista distros. Some time ago
(don't remember the old kvm version) it was working. But now
vista booted with -no-kvm option only. By the way, the w2k,
w2003 and wxp are working fine (not simultaneously) on the same
machine. It's seems like there are some problems with SMP and
Vista in kvm

Can you also give a shot with the -no-kvm-irqchip flag? Maybe this is
the source for the failures.

Sorry, I forgot to mention this, but I have tested it
earlier and got the same result: crash at boot loader and dump
registers.

Some more details: at the and of installation process the
instant I have logged in, Vista say: "logoff" and "shutdown" and
go to reboot where crashed then as usual.

It's possible a reset problem caused this. What happens if you start
the guest again with the same parameters?

Hi!

I have tried vista with some older kvm (44,33,28) and it crash
at boot loader again, but with some other symptom: no dump
registers, but short error message: "Bus error".

Sorry, but are You working on this problem now? And how many
chances are to make vista boot on kvm in this or next week?

Can you please try latest kvm (49)?
If it does not work (it should), try adding -no-kvm-irqchip

Dor.

this bus error mean something probably mean that something going wrong
in the mmaped memory, try the latest kvm, and report if it work
(update the qemu bios as well, and make sure you are using the new
module (rmmod kvm_intel/kvm_amd rmmod kvm, insmod kernel/kvm.ko insmod
kernel/kvm-intel/kvm-amd.ko)

it should work to you,

but if it doesnt try --no-kvm and report what happen,

another thing:

you are using intel or amd?
