Hi all!
I'm testing qemu-kvm-0.12.0-rc2 with the patch for compatfd of Chris
Wright on a host with Linux 2.6.32 from kernel.org and a virtual machine
with OpenBSD 4.5.
After to boot this virtual machine I'm observing by serial console the
following message of the network interface which is repeated constantly:
em0: watchdog timeout -- resetting
With KVM-88 with Linux 2.6.30.3 on host I'm not having this problem. In
case it contributes some additional data, I'm using in this VM a non
stock kernel with disable support for the mpbios device by the same
problem that I had previously with KVM-88 and that was solved with
this modification of kernel.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Regards,
Daniel

The kludge around for now is to disable mpbios in OpenBSD.
In theory you can do it with the boot time kernel configuration.
For at least one iteration of QEMU/KVM I had to build a custom
OpenBSD kernel for that to actually work.
However, if any KVM folks would like a guinea pig to take dumps
and traces to figure out where OpenBSD isn't playing nice with
QEMU/KVM, I'll volunteer.

At this moment I'm updating to 4.6 stable being the host Linux 2.6.32
and qemu-kvm-0.12.1.1. With this version of qemu-kvm I no longer have
the problem that I mentioned [1] with the e1000 network interface.
This time I've disabled mpbios of this [2] way. With this change we
could not use SMP in the OBSD guests?
On the other hand, I'm having problems in the update of ports, but it is
not the place to speak on this subject. If you are subscribed to the
openbsd misc mailing list, I will follow the subject by that channel.
Thanks for your reply.
Regards,
Daniel
