From mboxrd@z Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 From: Dave Young Subject: [RFC] virtio_balloon: disable oom killer when fill balloon Date: Tue, 28 Sep 2010 21:19:55 +0800 Message-ID: <20100928131954.GA2939@darkstar> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii To: kvm@vger.kernel.org, Avi Kivity , Rusty Russell Return-path: Received: from mail-pv0-f174.google.com ([74.125.83.174]:51799 "EHLO mail-pv0-f174.google.com" rhost-flags-OK-OK-OK-OK) by vger.kernel.org with ESMTP id S1753862Ab0I1NT7 (ORCPT ); Tue, 28 Sep 2010 09:19:59 -0400 Received: by pvg2 with SMTP id 2so1546074pvg.19 for ; Tue, 28 Sep 2010 06:19:59 -0700 (PDT) Content-Disposition: inline Sender: kvm-owner@vger.kernel.org List-ID: Balloon could cause guest memory oom killing and panic. If we disable the oom killer it will be better at least avoid guest panic. If alloc failed we can just adjust the balloon target to be equal to current number by call vdev->config->set But during test I found the config->set num_pages does not change the config actually, Should I do hacks in userspace as well? If so where should I start to hack?
