Anyone having problems with git access?

I am seeing this:

ghaskins@ghaskins-t60p:~/sandbox> git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/avi/kvm- userspace.git
Initialized empty Git repository in /home/ghaskins/sandbox/kvm- userspace/.git/
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly
fetch-pack from 'git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/avi/kvm- userspace.git' failed.

It's probably operator error, but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

The server is probably overloaded, same command line worked fine from
this end.
