Subject: Mouse stuck inside VM guest? Read here!
Date: Mon, 25 Jun 2007 14:46:52 +0200 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <467FB93C.9020906@polito.it> (raw)
Hello list,
in the past two days I experienced some weird problems with mouse inside
VM guests. Specifically, whenever I started a guest and clicked on its
SDL window, the mouse cursor would get stuck in one of the corners and
not move away from there. What was strange is that everything worked
just fine before I upgraded both kernel and KVM to their latest versions.
I was able to reproduce this problem by following any of the following ways:
-------
1st way
-------
* start a VM and wait for Xorg to load
* CTRL-ALT the SDL window (the mouse would move, but with serious problems)
* CTRL-ALT again to exit the SDL window, then CTRL-ALT to re-enter
result: the mouse pointer would not move anymore.
-------
2nd way
-------
* start a VM and wait for Xorg to load
* click on the SDL window
result: the mouse pointer would not move at all.
After many tries (upgrade/downgrade kernel-KVM-SDL-...) I was finally
able to find out what broke the system: the ATi fglrx driver. Therefore,
if you happen to have the same problem, before mailing the list asking
for help *be sure to upgrade/recompile the ATi driver* matching your
kernel version. Hopefully, this will fix your problem and save both
yours and devs' time :)
I would like to thank all of KVM developers for their wonderful work,
and especially Avi for his help with my issue. Regards,
Alessandro
