Zapping the mmu is needed so the memory can actually be reclaimed in the 
absence of mmu notifiers.  With mmu notifiers, it is unnecessary.

Or maybe

   stop all vcpus (in userspace)
   zap shadow
   madvise()
   resume all vcpus
