This is difficult, unfortunately, and varies from bug to bug.
In this case I'd try running 2.6.17 and up, see which is the first
kernel that works. This is a time consuming procedure, but once we know
which kernel works and which doesn't, we can look at the differences in
APIs and see whether something interesting is missing in the older kernel.
