Does qemu-img use qemu-system-x86_64?

Does qemu-img use qemu-system-x86_64?

Good morning list,

Does anybody know if the command "qemu-img snapshot -c blabla
mymachine.qcow2" starts a virtual machine in the background for doing a
snapshot? 

The problem is that I have two versions of qemu on my system. I am using
the 0.10.5 for running virtual machines. When I am doing a snapshot with
CTRL+ALT+2 and then typing "savevm blabla" then everything goes fine".
But when I run the qemu-img command, it does not create the snapshot
(infinite loop). 

Maybe the qemu-img runs an old 0.9.1 version of qemu (corrupted snapshot
code?)?

Maybe you're using an old qemu-img?

If you're using an old image, it's worthwhile to regenerate it using 
'qemu-img convert' to clear any hidden corruption.

Be careful with that. qemu-img convert doesn't retain snapshots, so
you're only converting whatever the guest currently sees. But at least
checking old images is a good idea.

Hi,

Ok thanks. After converting the image I am able to do a snapshot with
qemu-img. 

Only the time makes me a little bit perplex. Creating a snapshot from a
file with qemu-img takes about 4 minutes. The drive is stored on a
hardware raid  1+0, so write speed should not be the problem.
