Hello kvm ML

Is SR-IOV virtualization working & stable on kvm?

We are thinking about purchasing a Mellanox ConnextX-2 infiniband card
http://www.mellanox.com/content/pages.php?pg=products_dyn&product_family=61&menu_section=41#tab-two
for use in virtual machines.
Will it really work and go at infiniband speed?
That would be marvellous...

Hi Reeted,

As far as I know, SR-IOV is working & stable on RHEL KVM release.  We've seen IBM publish several pretty good SPECvirt_sc2010 results with SR-IOV NICs with RHEL 5.5 and RHEL6.  

For your question regarding Infiniband, I guess it's better send an inquiry to Mellanox to see if they've tested it with KVM.
