The whole original drive was saved as a single file, and started with: qemu-kvm -m 512 -hda opensvr.img and various options I tried to address the problem. Details: As shown, the system comes to the "boot:" prompt, when the keyboard is functional. On ENTER the boot proceeds until the prompt: Enter root password for maintenance or control-d for normal boot At that point the keyboard is ignored. I tried entering the cntl-d with the sendkey command, that failed as well. If started using the -vnc option, boot proceeds until a character graphic login is displayed asking for user and password. Again the keyboard is ignored.
