Hello!
I seem to recall that the individual who had a machine serving out those
archives at the location you quoted, suffered what we call an engineering
casualty towards the end of his school period.

Essentially someone shutdown the power to the machine, but wasn't informed
that the machine needed to be shutdown first. Something like that.
