You need to submit some potential patches to the ELKS mailing list,
linux-8086@vger.kernel.org first. If you submit quality patches, you
can become eligible to be promoted to developer status.

Hello!
I'm interested in ELKS project. I own vintage laptop Toshiba 1200
80C86-based with 384 of EMS that could be used for operation too, but AFAIK
there is no EMS support in ELKS code.
I'm not a programmer at all, only 20 years ago I wrote some assembler (8080
and 8086) progs. So hardly I can write something useful now.

WBR,
Andrew V. Suvorow

ELKS has pretty much died. It could certainly be taught to use EMS space
but it never happened. I don't know if Minix ever developed EMS support
but that might be a better place to look unless you want to do a lot of
hacking
