There is nothing wrong with the patch, but installing the binary snapshots over an XFree86 4.2.x installation seems to cause problems with applications that use Xft/XRENDER and is thus not recommended. I have reverted the available download to pre XFree86 HEAD merge snapshots, i.e. 20021012 and these have proven to work well when installed over a 4.2.x installation. If you're experiencing trouble with 20021203 over 4.2.x, please downgrade.
