For a while now I've been wanting to get my laptop to automatically power on at a particular time of day. I know it's capable of it because when I do a BIOS upgrade, it powers off and then powers back up a few seconds later. Would you expect this functionality to be activated through ACPI, and in particular through the /proc/acpi/alarm interface? I've tried writing a date & time to /proc/acpi/alarm, but the computer just freezes (and doesn't unfreeze at the time I chose!).
