mobo A7V600-F and problems with sound

Hello,

Sound is not working with my SuSE Linux 9.0 with 2.4.21-166-athlon
on an ASUS A7V600-F (FSB333).

I found the following messages in 'dmesg'

ACPI: Unable to set IRQ for PCI Interrupt Link [LNKH] (likely buggy
      ACPI BIOS, please report to acpi-devel!)
...
IRQ routing conflict for 00:10.0, have irq 5, want irq 3
...
ALSA via82xx.c:520: codec_valid: codec 0 is not valid [0xfe0000]

Last one probably means that the kernel can't contact sound chip

I packed all Information into a tar ball as supposed for a
bugzilla entry, but want to avoind sending 22K to the list.

I didn't find an entry in bugzilla related to this here.

What shall I do? Shall I post a report?

haha, they should say to report to ASUS;-)

go ahead and file the bug and make the tar-ball an attachment.

would be good if you can try a 2.6.3 kernel, I don't really know what is
in suse's 2.4.21-166-athlon kernel.

Hello,

I tried to post a bug at bugzilla.kernel.org for 'sound' and 2.6.3 but 
got an internal
error : "THE MAINTAINER HAS NOT YET BEEN SET" and
"A legal Archtecture was not set".

Anyway, there's no hint in 'dmesg' for problems with ACPI, but sound does
not work with 2.6.3 either.

"ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:585: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0xfe0000]"

Same message (with 'codec_valid') appeard with 2.4.21-...

To get it into bugzilla.  We'll take a look at it and re-assign as
