After I resume from S3 on my laptop, I see this message:

Can't open /dev/console. Error value was -14.

in the kernel logs and I can't see anything when I switch to a console
from X, or when I shutdown/reboot. Anyone have an idea why this is
happening?

Other than this, my box is behaving quite nicely with respect to suspend
to RAM. Thanks to anyone who can help.

/usr/games/fortune says:
lp1 on fire
(One of the more obfuscated kernel messages)

Which kernel?

What about S1?

What laptop is it?

Can you try without X?
