I want to say many thanks to Bruno Ducrot who provided a work around for the IBM Thinkpads! His patch replaces the actual ECDT table with a modified one. /proc/acpi/battery works perfectly, so does /proc/acpi/processor. /proc/acpi/fan and /proc/acpi/thermal_zone are not working yet.
