Hi,
I've just added Sebastian Henschel (shensche@) to the project, he will
be taking over the Web stuff from me.
The current plan is to build up a database of DSDTs (both from BIOSes
and user-supplied) with "supersedes" relations (i.e. if you have a
patched DSDT, you simply upload it saying it supersedes the original
one, and people looking for patches will be directed to your version)
and a comments area for each DSDT. MySQL is evil, but I think we can
still make some use from it. :-)
The more evil part of the plan (comments appreciated) is to create a
WikiWiki for the users and the support crew, which will eventually
evolve into useful end user documentation. As usual, volunteers for the
support crew are welcome, tasks are mainly summarizing and rewording
WikiWiki pages if they are too redundant or incomprehensible, and
occasionally updating the documentation in the end user packages.
Simon

good day to you....
as some of you already may have noticed, i updated the web pages a
couple of minutes ago.
except for some restructuring, the content is more or less the same.
i will gather more information within the next few weeks. feel free to
contribute or hint me to other sources of information. :)

Hi Sebastian,
Looks good, thanks for your help.
One thing that is mentioned on that page is the need for better user
support. The text makes it sound like there isn't any and I think that's
not true. It's on this mailing list. And I would argue that is OK for
now because nobody much "uses" ACPI, they try it and see what breaks.
;-) We need more developers and testers, not users.
Indeed, ACPI should never ever actually have users. For example, in the
US, there are commercials for a company (3M?) that says "We don't make
the sugar, we make the sugar taste BETTER", or something like that. ACPI
should make the OS run BETTER, but it shouldn't have a user-visible
identity of its own. (IMHO)
So anyways, could we mention this mailing list as a good resource for
developers and testers, and tell users to just forget about ACPI? Sooner
or later, their distribution will support it, and hopefully they won't
even know.
Regards -- Andy
