The only bios update i found which support the "Linux ACPI" is for the R40...

Look:

if you still have problem with those bugs :

i- bad ecdt table (look at 1/) (IBM is faulty, but is working about)
ii- a bug found by Lu Tong in ACPI (look at 2/).

In order to get item ii ok, you have to modify
linux/drivers/acpi/ec.c yourself, with helps found in 2/.

Note that bios upgrade may or may not correct bug i.
I believe that bug ii is still present.
