So, um, what's the point?
find /sys/firmware/acpi/namespace/ ! -type d
nothing. I was kind of hoping to have methods to invoke or at least
get the names of methods. Is this planned?

I guess it is a sysfs bug because it worked.

The /sys/.../acpi/namespace worked. I don't think that nobody touched
the code for acpi. Then I think it is a sysfs bug.

Ah, now I understand. Do you happen to remember what version it used
to work in? I've got two boxes running 2.5.7[34] (one i386, one ia64)
and neither show anything but directories under /sys/firmware/acpi

Sorry. I have not understood your first question.
Nothing but directories under /sys/firmware/acpi.
For now, ACPI default attributes still have to be written.

Ah, right. I might have a go at writing some of those this weekend then.

It has only ever showed the ACPI objects. They were originally under
/sys/devices/, but move to a more appropriate place.
It would be nice if their methods were shown, as well as what physical
devices the namespace objects corresponded to, but it has not happened
yet.
