Hi,

I am trying to get "standby" to work on my Sony vaio laptop. I did:
echo -n "standby" > /sys/power/state

But this only flashes the screen once (in X this is more noticeable) and
resumes immediately.
Dmesg shows:

PM: Preparing system for suspend
Stopping tasks:
============================================================================|
Restarting tasks... done

I am using 2.6.0-test8 with suspend and sleep states enabled. All other ACPI
functions seems to work fine, my laptop is an R505DL.

How can I debug this?

- Aviram

I don't know whether patch at http://bugme.osdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1433 address this issue.

It's just pedantic about the parsing, which saves a couple of lines of
code. If it's too inconvenient, please use a script to mask it. :)

It's pretty strange that OSDL goes to the trouble of setting up a bugzilla, and you want people to do things the old way.

I think the general consensus is that email is not a good bug tracking system. However, you can subscribe to acpi-bugzilla if you really want visibility into acpi bug updates through email.

I think you're just complaining because it's fun.

If you really have an issue, please report it via bugzilla. ;-P
