It was the same way between ACPI and DHCP in kernel 2.6.0-TEST9 Workaround : With ACPI compiled IN, and booting with pci=noacpi i get both my eth0 working with pppoe and ACPI battery status... but this is only a workaround. Interrupt problem ? Attached (taken under working pci=noacpi) : - dmesg -s40000 output - /proc/interrupts - acpidmp (pmtools) output - dmidecode - lspci -v --- Linux version 2.6.2 (root-xhuzP3ZZnIY@public.gmane.org) (gcc version 3.2.2) #2 SMP Mon Feb 9 18:38:07 CST 2004 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009ac00 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000009ac00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000dc000 - 00000000000e0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000e4000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000000e6f0000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000e6f0000 - 000000000e6ff000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 000000000e6ff000 - 000000000e700000 (ACPI NVS) BIOS-e820: 000000000e700000 - 000000000e800000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 00000000fff80000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) 232MB LOWMEM available.
