I have an Acer Travelmate 291 LCi laptop. I'm running kernel 2.6.4 with
the ACPI subsystem version that came with it (20040220).

I don't get any info from thermal_zone and fan. They are built into the
kernel, but their directories under /proc/acpi are simply empty... I've
had this behaviour with all the kernels I've tried, both 2.4.x and 2.6.x.

Is that an indication of a problem, or could it be that this laptop simply
does not allow the operating system to access those components? I've
empirically verified that the fan does seem to function correctly, only
turning on during heavier CPU activity.

Kamil
