Acer Aspire 1601LC tempertature & ACPI

Hello,
this is my first post, I'm sorry for my English (I'm Italian).

Well, my laptop during compilations that take long times shutdown with a 
kernel message that say "Critical Temperature 86 °C" or poweroff whitout 
messages.
I use Gentoo distribution (but the problem happened firstly on FreeBSD, this 
the reason I switch on Linux).

I got two questions:

1) Is this problem due to ACPI? (My friend Google lead me here)
2) What can I do?

I paste some system information:

Probably you need more infos, just ask. It's very important, sometimes I 
cannot see a DVD because system goes down... :°(  Ah, last info, this problem 
doesn't not appear on WinXP (when it was installed).

With my Acer Aspire 1705SMi, thermal zone would report temperature as 255C
repeatedly during bootup and reboot.
I disabled the thermal zone module, as the BIOS will supposedly shut down
the laptop if the temperature is really too high.

It's a solution... Are you sure that the cpu will not reach an high 
temperature due to a not perfect cooling management?
Is it safe disable the thermal module so that there's not a temperature check?

(I also don't have "sleep" in /proc/acpi, any hints)

CPU shutdown is hardware-controlled, so yes.  There are ways on both
FreeBSD and Linux to "smooth" out the 255C reported temps so they don't
cause a shutdown.

I switch for this problem and because the ethernet card was not found (is a 
Realtek 8139, probably something wrong with pci) and Mr. Warner Losh didn't 
submit a patch. So I switch without asking in the mailing list.

Anyway now that no thermal module is loaded there are no problem, I'll follow 
the acpi development and notify the problems for this laptop ( I hope this is 
a usefull thing).

Well, no thermal modules loaded, the system continue to shutdown when doing 
large compilation (sometimes while watching a Divx), I loaded the fan module 
(kernel 2.6.6) and /proc/acpi/fan is empty.

What can do? If I put my laptop on a cold surface it run without problems. 
It's a sad situation.
