Subject: pnpbios and acpi

Dear All,
I have a thinkpad 600E, which needs some energic action from setpnp in order
to get the sound working. For this, I need pnpbios.
Acpi works really great with this laptop, and I would like to keep using it.
The only problem is that with acpi enabled, pnpbios complains:
Linux Plug and Play Support v0.97 (c) Adam Belay
PnPBIOS: Scanning system for PnP BIOS support...
PnPBIOS: Found PnP BIOS installation structure at 0xc00fe700
PnPBIOS: PnP BIOS version 1.0, entry 0xf0000:0xe724, dseg 0xf0000
PnPBIOS: dev_node_info: function not supported on this system
PnPBIOS: Unable to get node info. Aborting.
hence /proc/bus/pnp does not exist anymore.
This is with kernel 2.6.7 and 2.6.8.1
So two questions:
1) is it possible for acpi and pnpbios to coexist.
2) how to achieve with acpi functionality equivalent to that of pnpbios?
Any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance
Damien
