Ok,
I found the problem and the solution. The problem is mentioned
on http://www.thinkwiki.org/How_to_make_ACPI_work, it's a kernel
bug.
It takes the boot parameter
acpi_sleep=s3_bios
The web pages says this problem had been fixed in 2.6.11-rc1, but
obviously it still exists.
