if this goto is taken, then "ret" is used uninitialized below:

Looking closely, a ';' is what should be there. This is what comes from
using existing drivers as a template - the ',' came from the equivalent
place in msi-laptop.c (line 356 in 2.6.23-rc4). I guess that shoud be
a ';' as well:

Yep, guilty as charged. Revised patch (v0.3) is below.

Oops, the revised Fujitsu patch I sent before included some editor backup
files by mistake. Sorry about that (it's what happens when you do things in
a hurry). For completeness find a revised patch below which doesn't. There
are no changes to the actual code here - just the absence of *~ files.

probably you didn't mean to create this file -- must be getting late in Australia?:-)
anyway, the other file looks good, and I've dropped it into acpi-test.

Ah no. I posted a follow-up patch to rectify this.

Not exactly - it was mid-afternoon - but I was extremely busy with other
things and was just a little too hasty in doing the diff.

Thanks. Any idea as to when it might show up in mainline? I expect 2.6.24
at the earliest given where we are in 2.6.23's release cycle.
