Dear ACPI gurus,

I'm trying to get ACPI to work on a new Gateway 200x laptop. I'm running
kernel 2.6.0-test7 with the ACPI stuff compiled in directly to the
kernel. Right now not a whole lot is working. I'm mainly concerned with
the battery for the moment, but /proc/acpi/battery is empty.

Here is the relevant portions of dmesg. Is this a broken DSDT a la some
other gateway laptops? Any help would be appreciated.

Seems to have basically the same behavior (still nothing in
/proc/acpi/battery or ac_adapter or thermal_zone), though I haven't
compared the dmesg output line-by-line.

Here's the new dmesg, if it yields any clues.

Is there some way I can help fix this problem?

Incidentally, though I really don't understand this stuff too well, it
seems that here:

	http://www.poupinou.org/acpi/ibm_ecdt.html

they managed to override a buggy ECDT table. Is it possible that a
similar approach might work in my situation?

Thanks,

Howdy William,

I'm the one who reported the problem with the 400VTX. Unfortunately, there
are other more pressing issues at work I have to deal with, but I'm going
to try to get the ECDT problem figured out eventually. We have two of
these laptops, both running Linux, and would really like to have battery
monitoring working!
