I have Suse 8.2 running on my new Dell Inspiron 300M. However, ACPI is only barely working. I can boot and I have acpid running but when KDE starts up, it can't detect the battery level and neither standby nor suspend works. Suse claims to have patched the 2.4 kernel with the ACPI support but the kernel parameters like acpi=force don't seem to work (http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/81_acpi.html). I've never compiled a kernel before, so I'm a little intimidated by the prospect described in the 2 pages I could find on this machine: (http://www.frogsonice.com/300m.html and http://www.hoolehan.com/300mlinux/). I'm attaching the output from acpidmp FACP | acpitbl and acpidmp DSDT | acpidisasm and dmidecode boot.msg Any help would be deeply appreciated. - Carlo Maley -- Carlo C.
