Hi Emma, mizu, hgfelger,
it works! I've isolated the problem.
I only had CONFIG_RTC=Y in my kernel and that was the only problem.
I've set
# CONFIG_RTC is not set
and everything works now.

acer TM632
slackware 10.0 kernel 2.4.26
