2.6.9-rc2-mm4 freezes at boot: ACPI IRQ9 SCI

Hello,

I was trying the latest -mm patch in order to test the merging of
'swsusp' and 'pmdisk', but I can't boot at all.

If I leave ACPI enabled, the boot freezes after:
	ACPI: IRQ9 SCI: Edge set to Level Trigger.

With "acpi=off" I've instead:
	Checking 'hlt' instruction... OK.
(which is the line just before "ACPI: IRQ9 SCI: Edge...")

So, I suppose this isn't an ACPI error, but I'm not sure. Solutions?

No, this is not an ACPI error. It's a problem with the "Preempt big kernel 
lock" feature. Check a Linux Kernel Mailing List archive for the 
2.6.9-rc2-mm4 announcement thread.

Ingo Molnar has replied to the announcement thread with a tiny patch which 
fixes this problem.

thank you for the explanation, Andre, I found the LKML 2.6.9-rc2-mm4
announcement [1] and Ingo Molnar's patch [2].

But actually I don't need 2.6.9-rc2-mm4 anymore, as 2.6.9-rc3 is out and
it contains the 'swsusp/pmdisk' merging (which is the reason I was
trying to use 2.6.9-rc2-mm4).
