Hello,

I'm not sure this is the right place for my problem. I was wondering if
I should direcly fill a kernel bug and then I choose to post here as IMO
its an ACPI related problem.

I installed Debian unstable on my IBM ThinkPad T42p [1] and the
Debian-installer used the 2.6.8 kernel. Then, I upgraded to kernel
2.6.10-rc3 and now to 2.6.10 (both with the latest ACPI 20041210 patch).
Since my upgrade, the module 'pciehp' cannot be loaded anymore. I tried
different kernel (from 2.6.9 to 2.6.10) and the problem starts with a
vanilla kernel 2.6.10-rc2.

Here the output from /var/log/kern.log in the 2 cases (working and not):

PCIEHCP is for PCI-E hotplug. Does T42p support PCI-E?

I supposed this, but I don't know at all if T42p support PCI-E. I guess
yes, as the module 'pciehp' is automatically loaded by hotplug at boot
on both kernel (Debian 2.6.8-1 and custom 2.6.10), so, I think that even
if there's no possibility to use the PCI-E hotplug, there's a controller
or something similar in the T42p.

How can I know by sure what I just wrote? I can provide my DSDT if
necessary.

Thx, bye,

It is extremely unlikely that your laptop supports PCI Express. I think
Intel has only released server chipsets (Grantsdale) that support this.

I think the same, but in this case, why hotplug finds something and try
to load the modules pci_hotplug, shpchp and pciehp?
