ACPIPNP originally supports hotplug, but we removed the capability. The
reason is this will cause conflict because some drivers directly use
ACPI. After fixing such drivers, we will reintroduce the capability.
acpiphp can't handle PCI bridge hotplug is another reason. I did some
investigation on how to make docking station work in my T40 before, and
actually made all PCI devices work with a hack. But I'm doing
suspend/resume, so the work is suspended now.

No, acpiphp and ACPIPNP also can't support hot remove.
Thanks,
Shaohua

Hi Li,
I am glad that you will develop/test docking support
on your T40, because it should be close to R50p. And
maybe the dock is the same.
I agree that suspend/resume work is more important
than docking.
If you need testing and logs, don't hesitate to let me
know. I can test docking with T41 and R50p for now.
Thanks,
Paul

I guess so and it seems to me so from IBM site [1]. Please check there
to be sure I was not fault.

It depends on the list of your priorities ;-) But I agree that
suspend/resume probably concerns more people than docking.

And another test volunteer: I'm going to receive a dock in the next
couples of week (I hope, shipping is never an exact science).
BTW1, which dock model do you have? Mine will be the 74P6733.
BTW2, can be the dock linked to a PCI-Express controller [2]? I don't
think so, but I'm not 100% sure. I can provide my DSDT if needed.
Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca
