I tried posting this a few days ago on the acpi4asus-user mailing list, but it seems to be dead, so I'm trying here. I have an Asus K8V Delux motherboard and some power management problems. The main problem is that ACPI doesn't seem to think that the processor supports more than one C-state. Attached is the output from acpidump, dmidecode, and the contents of /proc/acpi/processor/CPU1/info and power. The Asus software under windows does a nice job of keeping the processor down at 800 MHz when idle so it stays cool and wastes less power. I would like to get the same working under linux. Any help is appreciated. It might not be related, but under kernel 2.6.13 when I try to hibernate, the kernel appears to hang up trying to save memory to disk. Under the stock ubuntu 2.6.12 amd64-generic kernel, I notice that when I go to hibernate, my disks make a little click like they were spun down or reset, then spun back up for the kernel to dump the memory. This does not seem to happen under 2.6.13. When resuming from hibernation under the stock 2.6.12 ubuntu kernel, it seems that the ACPI doesn't correctly reenable the network card either, as the driver complains that it read 0xFF from the device ID registers and the card stops working. Suspend to ram works fine under 2.6.13 when I enabled the option in the bios to re-post the video bios on S3 resume. It works intermitently under the stock 2.6.12 ubuntu kernel.
