Dear Sirs,
I'm using (Gentoo) Kamikaze sources 2.6.23-kamikaze2 and looking trough the
dmesg output I've notice these strings:
[...]
ACPI: EC: Look up EC in DSDT
ACPI: EC: GPE = 0x1, I/O: command/status = 0x66, data = 0x62
ACPI: System BIOS is requesting _OSI(Linux)
ACPI: If "acpi_osi=Linux" works better,
Please send dmidecode to linux-acpi@vger.kernel.org
[...]
That's way I send you the output of running dmidecode on my machine. Please
let me know if you need any further information.
Best regards,
Samuele

Hi,
I have just upgraded my Ubuntu 7.04 to 7.10 and got a problem with
sound.
Browsing thru dmesg i noticed these two rows
[ 27.971829] ACPI: Please test with "acpi_osi=!Linux"
[ 27.971830] Please send dmidecode to linux-acpi@vger.kernel.org
So I am sending the output of dmidecode and dmesg before and after
booting with suggested parameters.
One note is that booting with parameter acpi_osi=!Linux made it so that
my wifi network did not work and so all i did was capturing the dmesg
and dmidecode.
B.R
/Igor

Here are 2 dmidecode outputs as suggested in dmesg messages: one after
acpi_osi=!Linux parameter passed to a kernel and another before. By the
way I see messages
"MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC"
at every boot if it helps somehow.
I use laptop Dell Inspiron 1501 with F7. kernel-2.6.22.9-91.fc7 for
x86_64
Please respond if You take the material into Your consideration.
Best regards,
Stanislav Kooshnikov

No testing necessary, the acpudump shows that this box
is like other Apples -- it basically tells the difference
between Darwin and other - and treats Linux and Windows the same.
So if we set OSI(Linux) or not doesn't make any difference.

Hi,
while trying to solv my problems with my Laptop (HP Pavillion 9056ea,
AMD Turion64 Xx2 1,6Ghz, NVIDIA 7600Go) I found in dmesg the advise to
send the output of dmidecode to this emailadress.
