This is not the case when using windows, the fan turns completely off,=20 just spins up every now and then. So it should be possible to reduce the noise, which is very annoying=20 when working for a longer time or in quiet environments. According to "acpi -V", the active trip point is at 60=B0C. However, th= e=20 fan is also on at less than 45=B0. Here is the output of acpi -V, the fan is on: -----------------------------------------------------------------------= ---------------- Battery 0: Charging, 20%, 01:18:26 until charged Battery 0: design capacity 4400 mAh, last full capacity 4688 mAh =3D 10= 0% Adapter 0: on-line Thermal 0: ok, 47.0 degrees C Thermal 0: trip point 0 switches to mode critical at temperature 99.0=20 degrees C Thermal 0: trip point 1 switches to mode passive at temperature 95.0=20 degrees C Thermal 0: trip point 2 switches to mode active at temperature 60.0=20 degrees C Cooling 0: LCD 2 of 11 Cooling 1: Fan 0 of 1 Cooling 2: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 3: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 4: Processor 0 of 10 Cooling 5: Processor 0 of 10 -----------------------------------------------------------------------= ------------------ I am using opensuse 11.4 with kernel 2.6.38-1 on a Fujitsu A530 laptop=20 (core i5). Do you know a solution, such that the fan also turns off completely whe= n=20 using linux?
