Power down trouble

Hi to all.

First of all I do not know if this is the right place to ask my questions so, 
if not, please refer me to the right place.

I have bought a new laptop (COMPAL pbl11) and I have some ACPI (I think) 
problems.

First of all, my laptop does not shut down. It hangs with the on screen 
message "Will now halt". There are more bugs, but I think this is the most 
basic one.

I have tried almost any solution I have saw and none has worked, so I think 
the problem is with ACPI.

I would like to help solve this bug. I am programmer but I never did anything 
regarding ACPI or kernel code, so I can give you as info as you need.

What kernel version are you using?

I am using last kernel version in wheezy, linux-image-2.6.38-2-amd64 (2.6.38-5).
