I am a newbie to linux. I am using Suse 9.3 with Kernel 2.6.11..4-20a on an Acer Travelmate 4000LCi. It uses the smart battery and would realy like to see the status of my battery. it is the only thing I have not been able to do just yet. Everything else seems to be just fine. I could use some help (remember I am a newbie) in getting this done, I want to try Rich Townsends fix but am afraid that all the work i have done to get everything else working would be lost. A step by step would be great, also I have never recompiled a kernel so have no idea where to begin.
