Hello!
I originally posted this 020731. Since then I've switched to 2.4.19 with
the 20020821-patch, but the problems remain. Anyone?
Hello!
Using ACPI (at the moment the 020709 patch for the 2.4.18 kernel) I can't
boot. I have the same problem as mentioned in
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=1688357 . Is there
anybody else who has this laptop, and who has had sucess? Dominik
Brodowski proposed a solution in
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=1825938 , but
unfortunately I don't know either how to block the offending IRQ or how
to patch the DSDT. My DSDT, if anybody is interested, should be available
at http://www.algonet.se/~grt/dsdt.asl

Hi
I took delivery yesterday of an ASUS s1300N laptop. I have got 2.4.22
and 2.4.24 kernels with latest acpi patches. (I am running Suse 9.0 -
the default kernel sucks with almost 100% keventd sucking the life out of
the thing).
If I boot with acpi=off they boot perfectly well, minus of course acpi
support! Also boot OK with acpi=ht.
However, with acpi=on, they just hang after the "linux loading"
sequence.
dmesg says that the ACPI has wakeup address 0xc0001000.
I am completely flumoxed ! I have seen numerous docs claiming that the
S1300N is fine with ACPI, so either the BIOS in mine is different (?) or
I am being a complete prat. (I accept that the latter is highly likely!)
Any ideas ?
Pete

Hi Bruno
Bruno> Booting with nolapic or noapic options perhaps?
Thanks a lot for that - I had tried the noapic but wasn't aware of the
nolapic parameter. I now have what appears to be a fairly complete
/proc/acpi system.
That seemed to be the key to getting it working with a 2.4.24
kernel. (lapic doesn't seem to be supported with the 2.4.22.)
Thanks again.

Hi to everyone, this is my first post in this list, and I wrote from Italy!
I have bought an notebook asus m3452ch (m3000n serie), and i have installed
debian unstable.
The kernel is 2.6.6 version and I have a problem with the fan of cpu because it
start only when the temperature exceed 70 celsius degree. It's normal?
There is a way to control the fan speed from userspace?
In my kernel configuration I have:
support ACPI =y
config_acpi_ac=m
config_acpi_battery=m
config_acpi_button=m
config_acpi_fan=m
config_acpi_processor=m
config_acpi_thermal=m
config_acpi_bus=y
config_acpi_ec=y
config_acpi_pci=y
config_acpi_system=y
In /etc/modules I load this modules.
When I write : echo on > /proc/acpi/fan/FN00/state the fan don't start.
Maybe the fan is controlled from the bios, in this case I can't do nothing? I'm
afraid
that I can damage my notebook.
Thanks,
Phil
