Hello,
I have a USB cablemodem (RCA/Thomson DCM245) which uses 2.6/usbnet driver,
and I'm using Fedora Core 2, but this problem remained since RedHat 9, at
least.
If I boot with ACPI turned on (default), the USB device gets disconnected
in random intervals, and later on it will even loose the cable signal
(requiring a reset). If I turn off ACPI (kernel parameter), it won't give
any problems.
What can I do to help fixing this problem?
Motherboard: ECS P4VXASD2
BIOS: AMI version 07.00T, 04/02/01
Tell me what else do you need.

I'm not sure if I'm suffering the same thing as you.
USB mouse will lose connectivity needing a plugout-plugin again to bring
it back up.
Random intervals
D600 + 2.6.7 Kernel + ACPI on
Didn't try with ACPI off though

That's my case!

Give it a try, that might solve the issue, if ACPI is not *required*.
Perhaps we can establish a pattern...
What's your motherboard (output 'dmidecode')?
What's your USB Host Controller (UHCI/OHCI/EHCI)?
Does 'lsusb -vvv | grep unknown' gives you any 'unknown interface class
descriptor' messages? This is known to be errors in the
manufacturer's USB code (CIIW), which seem to be related.

Actually I think it's a kernel issue. When on RH9 and and running 2.6.3,
no problems.
Now on 2.6.7

Did you try it?

In which subsytem?

I'll test 2.6.3.
Can you answer those questions?
Plus this one: do you have any other USB devices plugged in (I don't)?

It seems to be UHCI, right (I'm assuming you are talking about Dell D600),
and it seems to be EHCI also. Did you try to plug the mouse on the EHCI
(usb2) virtual hub?
