Docking and Undocking a laptop

Hi Friends,
I am running RedHat Linux 8.0, running on my Dell Latitude C610 laptop .
I have Dell Latitude C/Port II Docking station. I would like to dock my 
laptop. Is there any way that linux os detects that my laptop is docked?
When I docked the laptop and rebooted, it is working fine. But without 
rebooting, when I dock,does linux detect that it is docked? How to do
this? 
Where can I find any useful documentation on this Docking?

Anyone please guide me on this topic.
