difference between linux extended, win95 extended and extended

Hi everybody,

A Google search yielded nothing on this subject, so I'm
asking you.

When partitioning with fdisk I noticed there were three types
of extended partitions: win95 extended, linux extended and
extended. What exactly are the differences between those three
?

Any pointers to online documentation would also be helpful.

windoze (9x at last) only sees the first one. So if you have a
disk with win9x and want a second partition for windoze 
you must have an win95 extended partition

I think linux fdisk and lilo have some documentation regarding
 partitions.
