... that is the install i'm running on one of my machines.

    i just checked, and when a window is open, 'left' click on the '-' at
the "top right" of that window, and it disappears into a 'pane' at the
bottom of the desktop.  'left' click that, and it reappears ...

I don't want to use my mouse or keyboard for minimizing the windows..!!
I want t o do this with a 
command execution. I hope I am clear.

Sorry Pradeep, but you're not very clear.  How can you not use your 
keyboard when you are in command mode?  Do you have voice activation 
software that you wish to utilize?

In KDE 3.1 you can define key sequences to minimize windows by starting 
"Control Center" and defining the behaviour you want in
"Regional & Accewwibility" -> "Keyboard Shortcuts".
In earlier versions I think that this was located elsewhere.
