Dear Sir/Madam,
I have plugged in a new IDE HD. The motherboard detects it already.
After a restart the kudzu doesn't detect this HD. I have to do a manual
format and partitioning i guess.
In which way can i format this HD and cut this HD in partitions?
Yours truly

to partition the HD:
fdisk /dev/hd? where ? is the letter a, b, c, d, etc., depending on which
disk you want to partition (a is primary master, b is primary slave and so
forth). After running fdisk, type 'm' to see a list of all the options. It
should be straightforward.
to format a partition:
mkfs /dev/hd?? where ?? are the letter (as above) and the partition number.
I strongly recommend you read the man pages for fdisk and mkfs.
I also don't think it's a good idea relying exclusively on kudzu to configure
your box. Try to read the documentation and figuring things out so you don't
depend on something automatic that might (will) go wrong. If you need any more
help, please feel free to ask the list.
Good luck!

A quick Google search for "Linux partition hard drive" returned several
results you may find useful.
