Hi
In order to provide features for various terminal
types, I updated /etc/termcap file with latest version
availabe. After updating it I rebooted the m/c. But
it is still not providing proper functionality.
Should I do anything else apart from just
updating /etc/termcap.
Regards
Venkat

you need to set the TERM variable then run the tset command. ie
export TERM=wy60ak
tset

termcap is considered obsolete. Few programs still use it; most
programs use terminfo instead.

Terminfo is the current choice and has been for some time. Some programs
still use termcap, but not many. If your implementation has it, try
infocmp vt220
to display the codes assigned to manage this type of terminal. The tic
(TermInfo Compiler) command is used to compile a text file (infocmp produces
the correct kind of text file) into a terminfo file.

Hi
I downloaded new termcap file and copied it over
/etc/termcap file. I rebooted the machine. After
coming
up the machine still does't recognize new control
sequences introduced in /etc/termcap file.
So is the procedure wrong. Should I do anything else.
Regards
Venkat

Yo Venkat!
Your app probably uses terminfo and not termcap. So fix your terminfo
as well.
No reboot needed when you change termcap or terminfo. Just restart the
app.

You can use captoinfo to convert a termcap definition to a terminfo file.
